Oak Bluffs Welcomes New Pirate Excursion Company
July 6, 2015
Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard is now home to a pirate-themed excursion business, in which kids “sail” aboard a 40’ custom-built boat called the Sea Gypsy, made to look like a pirate ship (kindly ignore the twin outboards). The trips are ideally suited for 2 to 10 year olds, who get a pirate name, face-paint, costume and a lesson in pirate lingo (sans salty expletives, we hope) before boarding.
Once aboard the Sea Gypsy, the “crew” works together to build a treasure map and determine the boat’s course. Along the way they battle the evil “Stinky Pete” with water cannons. The voyage culminates in raising a treasure chest from the ocean. There’s singing, dancing, and drinking of pirate grog as the Gypsy sails back to port.
Tickets $32 for all pirates, regardless of age. Reservations are required.
