Seacoast Online: The Harbor Board is seeking public input at a Dec. 7 hearing on its proposal to begin charging fees for businesses and individuals who own “paddlecrafts” — everything from kayaks to paddleboards — as a means to reduce congestion on the York River during the summer months.

“We feel we are just getting too many paddlecraft, particularly around Town Dock 1, where we have the bulk of commercial fishing,” said Harbor Board member Joey Donnelly. “We’ve been talking about this for 2 years. And during that time, the increase in paddle traffic just continues to rise.”
