Pigeon Cove, MA, Breakwater Repairs to Begin
November 11, 2015
The Gloucester Times reports that the $4.5 million project to repair and improve the upper Pigeon Cove, MA, breakwater and the harbor entrance breakwater is slated to begin on November 16.
The work on the upper breakwater is expected to last 5 to 6 months, while the harbor breakwater project will begin next spring.
The harbor entrance parapet wall and the base structure’s top will get a concrete core faced with granite blocks. The blocks that have tumbled into the ocean will be reset, and below-water voids in the wall filled.
Pigeon Cove is home to some 40 lobster boats.
