Portland, ME, Named AARP’s No. 1 Vacation Spot

NECN.com: February isn’t exactly the peak of Maine’s tourist season, yet many are strolling down Commercial Street.

“We’re empty-nesters we no longer have a dog to worry about and we said let’s do an overnight somewhere,” said Margie Cantor.

The Cantors aren’t the only ones who have discovered Portland.

The city was just named AARP’s number one vacation destination for 2012, followed by other more obvious tourist spots including Clearwater, New York City, and Durham, North Carolina.
