Portsmouth Students Explore Great Bay, Piscataqua River

Seacoast Online: Portsmouth
High School ecology and environmental studies students came face to face with the issues facing the water in their own back yards during an excursion through the Piscataqua River and Great Bay Wednesday [June 3].

The 2-hour boat tour, provided at no cost by owner of Portsmouth Harbor Cruises Drew Cole, was a “great education trip right in our back yard,” said teacher Kim McGlinchey.

Jeff Barnum, Great Bay-Piscataqua Waterkeeper with the Conservation Land Foundation, organized the expedition with the intention of “allow(ing) the students to better understand the complexities within this estuary of national significance, given the range of competing interests and uses.”
