Possible Human Bone Found on Merrimack River

Workers engaged in removing sewage disks from along the Merrimack shoreline of may have found a human bone.

Newburyport News reports that local and state police scoured the Merrimack River shoreline for a possible body after what may be a human bone was discovered inside a woman’s shoe found on the riverbank at around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12.

The shoe was found off River Road in West Newbury, Massachusetts, during a cleanup operation aimed at removing sewage disks that had spilled into the Merrimack a few weeks ago.

Essex County district attorney spokesman Steve O’Connell said the bone, found off River Road, was brought to the state medical examiner’s office to determine whether it represents human remains.
