Potector Jet 20: Rocket RIB

Protector Boats, a major builder of vessels for the military, fire, law-enforcement and rescue agencies, has announced the introduction of the Jet, a 20-foot recreational RIB built around a Yamaha FX Cruiser SHO PWC. According to Protector, the Jet combines the performance, stability and speed of a commercial-grade RIB with the fun, power and safety attributes of a PWC. The Jet makes an ideal tender, ski boat or sailing coach/support boat. It can also be used as a safety/rescue vessel for coastal communities, with its jet drive and minimal draft allowing it to access shallow, rocky areas.

With a top speed of 50 mph (30 mph cruise), the Jet is fast, comfortable, dry-running and maneuverable. Designed with shock-mitigating, chambered hypalon tubes and a solid, hand-laid fiberglass hull, the Jet offers smooth, secure high-speed handling. It comes with a 3-person cruiser seat and is equipped with optional rear seating, allowing it to accommodate as many as 6 people.

The Yamaha FX Cruiser SHO at the heart of the Jet features a supercharged 1812 cc, 4-cylinder, 4-stoke engine with electronic fuel injection. It’s also equipped with a cruise-assist no-wake mode, remote ignition transmitter, adjustable tilt steering station, reverse mode with traction control technology, an 18 1/2-gallon fuel tank and dry storage capacity of up to 26 gallons.

Optional accessories include rear molded bin seats with storage, a stainless guardrail for the bin seats, a single axle trailer with surge braking system, lifting points for hoist launching and LED running lights.
