The presenters of the Providence WaterFIre events at Waterplace Park and the Providence River in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, are seeking volunteers to help clean up trash and natural debris that have accumulated along the river during the winter.

Last year dozens of volunteers cleared more than 30 tires, bicycles, chairs, 55-gallon drums, bottles, cups, plastic bags and even a container of toxic waste from the river and its banks.

The cleanup will take place Saturday, April 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Volunteers will meet on the riverbank next to the Citizen’s Bank parking lot. Parking is limited.

Office Recycling Solutions will also be on-site to help the community rid themselves of electronic waste. For a $1 donation to WaterFire for each item surrendered, ORS will responsibly and locally process the items to be recycled.
