Rare Beaked Whales Wash Up in Bridgehampton

27East.com: A second rare beaked whale—this one smaller with what appeared to be a gash on its head—washed ashore in Bridgehampton [New York] between Mecox and Scott Cameron beaches off Dune Road Monday morning [January 6], puzzling researchers.
Officials from the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation reported to the scene at about 11:30 a.m. and identified the mammal as the second of its species to be spotted on beaches in Southampton in 2 days.
