Rename New Hampshire’s Tall Ships Festival

The organizers of New Hampshire’s annual Tall Ships Festival in Portsmouth are making a final appeal to the public for ideas to rename the event.

The Piscataqua Maritime Commission recently announced it would allow the public a chance to rename the event (deadline tomorrow), which is being changed because of legal implications surrounding the trademark of the term “tall ship.”

Besides bragging rights, the contest winner will receive two free tickets to the Saturday night captain’s reception, two free tickets to the ship tours and a PMC volunteer T-shirt.

This year’s event is scheduled to take place on Memorial Day Weekend. But those hoping to win need to move soon.

The deadline for entries is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22.
