The deadline for completion of repairs to Block Island’s Old Harbor breakwater has been pushed back from April 1 to May 1, 2017, according to an article on BlockIslandTimes.com.

Officials say the delay was due to a miscalculation in the amount of large rock needed, which is now being brought to the island.

The breakwater had been in a state of flux since 2012 when it was damaged during Super Storm Sandy. The Army Corps of Engineers removed the previous contractor from the project due to a series of delays and missteps.
