Seacoast Online: The Spanish Tall Ship El Galeon Andalucía is scheduled to sail up the Piscataqua River on July 22, leading a parade of other seafaring vessels, before docking off the South End for a week when visitors can tour the replica 16th century galeón class sailing ship.

Sail Portsmouth is hosting the week-long visit of the Andalucia, which Piscataqua Maritime Commission member Donald Coker said is the only ship of its kind in the world. The tall ship “will tell the 500-year story since the arrival of Juan Ponce de León on the eastern shore of Florida,” according to sponsors.

“We’re really excited,” Coker said. “This is really a coup for us.”
