The Back Cove 37 is a marvelous full-salon, 2-cabin cruising boat with a comfortable, able hull that draws only 2′ 8″, thanks to its 480- to 600-hp, single-engine configuration with the propeller turning in a tunnel. It cruises efficiently at trawler speeds, but also runs happily in the mid- to upper ‘teens and the low to mid-20s. Top speed is 23 to 28 knots, depending on power. A bow thruster is standard, and you can add an optional stern thruster under the full-width swim platform for increased maneuverability.

BackCove37Downeast-3Now Back Cove Yachts has introduced a brand-new version of the 37: the Downeast, It has a large, wide-open cockpit that blends seamlessly with the salon. It’s comfortable for weeklong and weekend cruises, but the Downeast is also made to order for welcoming family and friends aboard for a day on the water.

The open salon provides a double companion seat opposite the helm and a pair of settees, elevated for great views of the water. The L-shaped port settee curls around an in inlaid table. The helm deck has a large storage compartment under the sole for folding chairs, and a retractable sunshade covers the cockpit. Below is a master stateroom with island queen berth and a full galley in the cabin, opposite a full head with shower stall. The cabin interior follows the traditional Herreshoff-style, with white panels and cherry trim.
