After a short hiatus, C-Hawk Boats is back in business under enthusiastic new ownership and veteran management at its plant in Bailey, North Carolina. This longtime builder of sturdy fiberglass work, fishing and utility boats continues to offer tough, no-nonsense hulls laminated by experienced crews with woven roving and chopped mat around Perma Ply Marine Core.

The 23 Special is a new take on a 23’ hull with classic sheer line, moderate flare, and a sharp bow entry tapering to 14 degrees of deadrise at the transom. Despite the Carolina construction location, the boat’s design originates from noted workboat designer Robert Meekins, of Golden Hill on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The 23 Special configuration includes an outboard bracket, full transom with fishbox, trim tabs, eaning post (livewell optional), raw-water washdown, flush-mount cleats and bow light, and T-top with electronics box.

Though dealers can rig the 23 with a range of outboards up to 225 hp, C-Hawk offers her with a 150-hp Suzuki and a Road King aluminum tandem trailer for $39,995, plus freight and rigging. On a thoroughbred hull of this shape, a modern, 150 four-stroke with the right propeller is plenty for practical use, with efficient cruising speeds in the mid-20s and a top speed in the mid-30s.
