RI Receives Funding for Pump-Out Services

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is accepting grant proposals for mobile pump-out vessel services for recreational boats in designated areas on Long Island Sound for the 2015 boating season.

Westerly Sun: Rhode Island’s legislative delegation announced that the state would receive $270,000 to help purchase pump-out facilities for Rhode Island boaters. The funding, announced on Wednesday, May13, is from the Clean Vessel Act grant program, which supports recreational boating infrastructure and marine-sewage disposal facilities.

U.S. Sens. Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Reps. Jim Langevin and David Cicilline said the state will receive $270,385 through the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s Clean Vessel Act grant program. The Clean Vessel Act funds the construction, replacement, renovation and maintenance of facilities that assist recreational boaters in properly disposing of onboard septic waste.
