RI to Get $18.4 Million for Clean Water Projects
January 27, 2014
Providence Journal: Rhode Island is in line to receive $18.4 million in federal funds for clean water projects, U.S. Sen. Jack Reed announced Thursday [January 23].
Reed said the money, included in the 2014 Omnibus Appropriations bill, reflected his efforts to fight proposed cuts to the State Revolving Fund program. The Republican-controlled House had sought to provide only $600 million while President Obama had proposed $1.9 billion.
Reed said the funding will provide $9.5 million for a wastewater revolving fund and $8.9 million for a drinking water revolving fund, both of which are managed by the Rhode Island Clean Water Finance Agency.
