Fisherman Safety-Training Funds Included in Coast Guard Bill

The Gloucester Times reports that the Fishing Partnership Support Services is sponsoring 2 free sessions of hands-on safety and survival training on May 12 and 13 at U.S. Coast Guard Station Gloucester.

The sessions are scheduled to run 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will be conducted by Coast Guard-certified marine safety instructors. A free lunch is provided by Ocean Marine Insurance Agency.

Training will cover onboard firefighting, flooding and pump operations; flares and personal location beacons; survival suits and life-raft equipment; first aid; and man-overboard and helicopter-hoist procedures.
