A 34-foot Ericson sailboat named Chrysalis broke free of its mooring during high winds on Tuesday morning, Dec. 18,  and washed ashore amid some rocks at the end of Chestnut Street in Newport, just north of the Goat Island causeway.

Chrysalis was built in the 1980s and is owned by a Newport resident, according to the Newport Daily News.

The boat was expected to be re-floated on Thursday. No word on how badly the vessel was damaged.
