Sakonnet Light Boat Parade This Saturday

To celebrate the 3-year restoration of the Sakonnet Lighthouse and its 125th anniversary in pure nautical style, an estimated 20 to 50 boats of all types and sizes will stage a “sail-by” Saturday, July 7.
The sea parade will begin at 11:00 a.m., when large sailboats greater than 23 feet will cross the offshore start line. Next will come the smaller boats, one-by-one—the powerboats, fishing boats, and racing sailboats.
Finally, at 12:30 p.m., kayaks, dories and stand-up paddleboarders will have their chance to salute the ancient landmark.
