Sakonnet Point Club Seeks Wastewater Discharge Permit

According to RI NPR, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is considering issuing a wastewater permit for the Sakonnet Point Club. The club is looking to discharge water into Sakonnet Harbor in Little Compton, Rhode Island.

The Sakonnet Point Club extracts well water nearby and puts it through a filtration system. It produces drinking water and brackish-water. The club used to discharge the latter into the Sakonnet River, but the system had been damaged over the years. Now the club seeking permission to discharge the water into Sakonnet Harbor via a wastewater discharge permit from the state.
