Saquatucket Harbor Plan Nears Completion

The $7 million marina project in Saquatucket Harbor, in Harwich, MA, is nearly complete.

The project involved the construction of 27 slips in the federal navigation channel and a handicapped-accessible ramp to load passengers onto larger vessels.

The public marina now has 11 more slips than it did before the renovation, and the harbormaster’s headquarters has also been expanded and upgraded.

Additionally, the harbor was dredged to a depth of 6 feet MLW, with channels for the larger ferry, party boats and seal-watch vessels dredged to 8 feet.

The work was paid for with a $1 million grant from the Massachusetts Seaport Economic Council and a $6 million borrowing by the town paid for the waterside project. Slip fees were increased by about 10 percent to help pay for the upgrades.
