Science Lab Uses Ferry in Maine

Researchers from the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences are using the Nova Star ferry to chart changes to the Gulf of Maine, according to an article on PressHerald.com.

The researchers say it’s an efficient way to gather water samples for research work that in the summer found a record-low growth rate for plankton, a crucial food source.
