Sea Chantey Blast and Pub Sing
January 4, 2011
Mystic Seaport of Mystic, Connecticut, will host a Pub Sing and Chantey Blast in support of the Museum’s 32nd annual Sea Music Festival. The event will be held Saturday, January 8, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. (snow date is Sunday, January 9). Attendees are invited to join with the Mystic Seaport chantey staff as they share maritime ballads, chanteys and songs of the sea. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
The event seeks to raise support for the Museum’s upcoming Sea Music Festival, one of the world’s premier sea-music events. Each year at the festival, more than 5,000 people gather to hear American and international performers of maritime music celebrate the classic musical traditions of the Golden Age of Sail, as well as the timeless relationship between humanity and the sea. The annual festival has featured music from maritime cultures around the world.
The event is co-sponsored by the Pinewoods Folk Music Club and will be held at Frohsinn Hall, located at 54 Greenmanville Ave. in Mystic, CT, across from the Museum’s main entrance. For more information, visit Sea Music Festival fundraiser.
The fundraising event is organized as part of the Friends of the Festival program that seeks to generate support for the annual Sea Music Festival. For more information about Friends of the Festival, contact the Museum’s Advancement Department.
