Sea Tow Captain Recognized for Rescue

Sea Tow Old Saybrook captain Tom Heinssen was recently recognized by Sea Tow for his rescue of a man in the Connecticut River in April 2020.

Heinssen was heading upriver to assist a boater whose vessel had become stranded in Glastonbury when he noticed an unusual object in the water. It turned out to be the very boater he was coming to assist. Apparently, the 30-year-old man had attempted to paddle out to his boat on a wakeboard or SUP when he was swept away by the strong current. He had been in the water some 20 minutes when Heinssen, a former police officer, saw him and managed to pull him aboard.
