Sea Tow Central CT Removes Boat from Branford Beach
October 1, 2012
Capt. Tom Kehlenbach of Sea Tow Central Connecticut posted the accompanying photo of yet another casualty of last week’s windstorm off Branford. The mooring line snapped in the rough conditions, after which the boat drifted sideways to the beach and rolled.
“A good side note in this example is for boaters to make sure they have a boat-insurance policy that has a ‘wreck removal or salvage’ clause along with pollution liability,” points out Kehlenbach. “This boater did, so he will receive the full amount the boat was insured for and our costs will be paid over and above that. With a ‘hull only’ policy or a policy that does not include salvage, the cost of recovery will need to be paid for by the owner.”
