“Seeker” is Finally Launched on Martha’s Vineyard

The 70′ wooden scow Seeker, a familiar site to those in Vineyard Haven over the past 7 years, has finally been launched. Seeker is the creation of island artist and furniture maker Ted Box, who, along with a host of volunteers, invested thousands of hours and dollars building the boat.

According the the Vineyard Gazette, Box started construction on the boat in 2011, and had visions of launching in 2013, 2016, 2017, and earlier this year. He had to move the boat three times and couldn’t work on her for a year because of throat cancer.

However, Box has prevailed at last, although it remains unclear where the boat will be berthed.
