January 17, 2016
New Haven Register: The [Seymour, CT] police and fire departments have joined forces to add a potentially life-saving piece of equipment to their fleet.
According to the town’s Fire Chief John Cronin, the fire and police departments pooled their budgets and purchased a 16’, flat-bottom, aluminum rescue boat, equipped with a 40-hp outboard motor. The boat, Cronin said, cost $28,000, and was purchased with existing funds from the fire department budget, along with money from the police department’s seizure fund, which Cronin said saved taxpayers “roughly $11,000.”
