Sick Fisherman Medivaced from Vessel

The Coast Guard medically evacuated a fisherman approximately 60 miles south of Nantucket on Monday, November 26.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England were notified at approximately 8:00 p.m. Monday from the fishing vessel Capt. Bligh reporting that a 25-year-old crewmember had become ill and was unable to communicate.

A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod rescue helicopter crew immediately launched and safely removed the fisherman at approximately 11:00 p.m. He was taken to Hyannis Airport and transferred to Cape Cod Hospital.
