Spring Commissioning: Improve You Fuel Economy
April 10, 2020
Looking to save money at the gas pump this season? There are ways to improve your boat’s fuel economy even before you launch for the season.
- One of the easiest ways to improve your fuel economy is to lighten your vessel’s load by clearing out all the junk that’s been stored aboard over the winter.
- Repaint your hull bottom. For boats docked in salt or brackish water, keeping fuel-robbing growth from adhering to your boat’s hull can save a lot of fuel.
- Inspect your prop. Even small dings or chips in the prop edges can reduce fuel economy. Also, make sure that you have the correct prop based on your current boating needs.
- Check your trim tabs. Unbalanced boats chew up fuel. During spring commissioning, ensure that trim tabs function properly.
