Storm Damages Town Neck in Sandwich, MA

Last weekend’s strong storm caused a lot of damage on Town Neck in Sandwich, Massachusetts. And a jetty on the Cape Cod Canal is being blamed as the culprit, according to an article on CapeCodTimes.com.

It’s well documented that the canal jetty is starving Town Neck of the natural sand that would renourish the beaches and dune system. Last weekend’s northeaster washed away thousands of cubic yards of sand, carving 15’ into the dunes and, with it, thousands of dollars spent by homeowners within the last year to protect their beachfront homes.

It was another blow to an area that can only be described as being on life support.
