Storm Surge Sensors Capture Data on Irene

TheDay.com: Storm surge sensors placed by U.S. Geological Survey teams in advance of Tropical Storm Irene’s arrival in Connecticut last Sunday showed the storm tides were 3 to 5 feet above the normal high tide.

Guilford saw the most extreme storm tides, according to Jon Morrison, supervising hydrologist for the U.S.G.S. Water Science Center in East Hartford.

“It was high tide in Guilford when the storm passed,” he said.
