Stranded Vessel Assisted by Coast Guard

Coast Guard rescue crews towed a stranded fishing vessel approximately 50 miles east of Cape Ann to Gloucester, Massachusetts, on Saturday, September 8.

Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector Boston received a distress call from the pleasure craft Lionheart at 6:00 a.m., on Friday. Crewmembers on Lionheart stated that the boat was adrift with 2 persons aboard approximately 50 miles east of Cape Ann.

The Coast Guard Cutter Hammerhead was launched to tow the vessel back to Gloucester, where it transferred the tow to a boat from Station Gloucester, which safely brought the vessel to the pier.
