September 17, 2015
Ellsworth American: On Friday, Sept. 18, led by the Marine and Environmental Research Institute (MERI), 68 middle school students from Blue Hill Consolidated School will spend the morning combing local beaches, hunting down plastic items large and small and any other debris littering the shores.
Supervised by Coastal Monitoring Assistant Courtney Neumann and teachers from Blue Hill Consolidated School, the scavengers will be participating in Maine Coastal Program’s annual Coastweek Cleanup that runs from Sept. 19-26. Sept. 19 is designated International Coastal CleanUp Day.
