Sunken Cars Removed from CT River
October 15, 2012
Hartford Courant: In a first-ever partnership with a river advocacy group, [Connecticut] state police divers braved treacherous currents and other hazards last weekend to remove junk cars from the bottom of the Connecticut River.
With the river swollen from recent rains, divers plunged into the murky water just south of Wethersfield Cove to attach cables to 2 cars some 30’ down. Later, the decaying shells of a Datsun and a Chevy van were hauled up from the muddy river bottom by a wrecker from Hartford-based Corona’s Auto.
