Tall Ship Visits MA North Shore

The Rhode Island-based, steel-hulled SSV Oliver Hazard Perry, which at 200’ is one of the largest civilian sailing vessels in the United States, recently made stops along Massachusetts’ North Shore on its way to New Hampshire, according to an article on GloucesterTimes.com.

The Oliver Hazard Perry arrived in Gloucester, Massachusetts on Sunday, August 7, 2016, and in the evening was moored inside the Dog Bar breakwater in the Outer Harbor. The vessel moved to Cape Pond Ice on Monday morning where it took on water and ice while its crew toured the Gloucester ice-making facility. Later Monday, the ship left port, moving to Rockport for the evening before it was to makes its way Tuesday to its ultimate destination, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where it will take part in a tall ships festival.
