Tenants Harbor Paddle Scheduled

Knox Village Soup: Join Georges River Land Trust for a paddle to Tommy’s Island in Tenants Harbor on Saturday, July 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Les Hyde, longtime volunteer for the land trust and one of the principals involved in helping to permanently conserve the island, will lead the paddle from the Tenants Harbor public landing.

This paddle is for experienced canoeists/kayakers, as the group will be paddling in open water, through Long Cove to the two-acre island. Hyde will guide the paddlers out of the harbor into Muscongus Bay and around a series of islands before entering into Long Cove and Tommy’s Island. Bring a boat and picnic lunch. Lunch will take place on the island, where there will also be the chance to explore this small magical place. Meet at the public landing, which is in the village of Tenants Harbor directly off Route 131. Call GRLT to register in advance at (207-594-5166).
