Thimble Islands Ferry Service Restored

The ferry service to the dazzling, rocky Thimble Islands is back running again, but the key issue—how to support the service to so it remains worth an operator’s time—is still out there flapping in the wind.
As islanders and guests settle in for another sun-kissed summer, a possible solution is on horizon.
The solution, made possible by recently-approved state legislation backed by state Reps. Pat Widlitz, D-Guilford, and Lonnie Reed, D-Branford, and state Sen. Ed Meyer, D-Guilford, would involve creating a special taxation district assessing island owners to subsidize the ferry to and from the Town Dock in Stony Creek.
