Strong winds forced the cancellation of the Up From the Ashes Regatta on Rhode Island’s Providence River on Sunday, January 18, 2015, according to an article on ProvidenceJournal.com.

The Up From the Ashes Regatta is part of a 6-month Frostbite racing series on Sundays from October to March, with a winner crowned based on best overall performance. It takes its name from a devastating fire that consumed the Edgewood Yacht Club clubhouse on January 12, 2011.

With winds measuring 22 knots, plus higher gusts, race officials decided to call off the race.
