Fishing Vessel Tow Takes 5 Days

The Coast Guard cutter Tahoma towed a disabled fishing vessel for five days in mid-December. The Coast Guard received a call for assistance on the evening of December 6 from the fishing vessel Fearless, which had become disabled 160 nautical miles east of Nantucket.

The Tahoma took the vessel in tow on December 7 and arrived off Buzzards Bay five days later. A commercial towing company completed the tow into New Bedford, where the Fearless is homeported.

Winds at the time the tow began were 20 mph, with seas of eight feet. No injuries were reported.
