In late January, Team Riptide Charters on Cape Cod will hold a hands-on workshop specifically tailored to those who fish offshore south of Martha’s Vineyard. The seminar will include special guest Captain Mike “Hogy Lures” Hogan and will be broken into two segments.

Part 1: DIY Build Your Own Bar – Learn hands on with Captain Terry Nugent, Shaun Ruge and Mike Hogan (materials and tools included). Every attendee will receive the materials needed to build a spreader bar from scratch. The captains will all be there to teach, guide and assist anglers every step of the way. When you’re finished, you will be taking home your hand-built completed spreader bar.

Part 2: Trolling and Casting Methods – The second segment will cover proven trolling and casting methods for tuna, mahi, mako, wahoo and other offshore big game that visits the waters south of the Vineyard each summer. They will be using video filmed last summer to illustrate their talk and in addition to demonstrating the actual equipment they use onboard their boats.

The first part of the seminar will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The second part will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each part is limited to 40 people.

The seminar will be held at the Trowbridge Tavern and Canal Club, 100 Trowbridge Road, in Bourne, Massachusetts. The cost to attend is $125 per person. Lunch is included with the course fee, and there will be a full cash bar at the restaurant for liquid refreshements.
