Volunteers Remove Trash from RI’s Pocasset River

The Johnston Sunrise reports on a recent cleanup of the Pocasset River in Johnston, RI, coordinated by District I Johnston Town Councilman Richard DelFino III and the award-winning Pawtuxet River Authority was a success.

Assisting in the cleanup were Johnston High School’s cheerleaders, members of the Neutaconankanut Hill Conservancy and Woonasquatucket River and Watershed Council.

The group removed objects dating back to the 1950s, including tires, mattresses, chemical drums and a sunken canoe.
