Westport River Choked by Nitrogen

EastBayRI.com: The Westport River [in Massachusetts] is in declining health and won’t get better without cutting its nitrogen intake by some 18 percent.
That is a conclusion of an ambitious estuaries study unveiled last Thursday evening at Macomber School by lead author Dr. Brian Howes, director of the Coastal Systems Program at the School of Marine Sciences and Technology, UMass Dartmouth.
Halting the decline will require a range of fixes, he said.
