Whale Science Lecture to be Held in New Bedford

The Old Dartmouth Lyceum will host a presentation on the history of whale science on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
The lecture will be presented by Laela Sayigh, PhD, is a Research Specialist in Biology at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), and Michael Moore, PhD, is a Senior Research Specialist in Biology and Director of the Marine Mammal Center at WHOI.
Dr. Moore and Dr. Sayigh will describe the evolution of scientific interest in whales from natural history to conservation of the whaling industry including whale behavior, acoustics, neurobiology and conservation. Their presentation will highlight a recent acquisition by the Whaling Museum of a marine mammal acoustics archive collected by William Schevill and William Watkins of WHOI.
Admission: $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Light refreshments will be served.
