Woman Presumed Drowned in Kennebec River

SeacoastOnline: Police in Maine say they have suspended their search for a woman who apparently went into open waters of the Kennebec River in Augusta and flowed downstream under the ice.
Augusta police say they received multiple calls at about 1:00 p.m. on Saturday [March 21] from people who say they saw a person they described as a woman standing on the ice just north of the Calumet Bridge. The person went into a section of open water and attempts to pull the individual out were unsuccessful.
