Would-Be Rescuers Rescued on Androscoggin River
May 14, 2016
WCSH reports that a couple who was flight training in a seaplane over the Androscoggin River in Turner, Maine, noticed a man in a paddleboat that was taking on water. The couple landed the plane on the river and taxied to a nearby boat ramp, where they recruited a boating family to assist in the rescue. However, when the would-be rescuers attempted to tow the paddleboat via a line attached to their outboard engine, the engine was ripped off its transom mounts, allowing water to enter their boat.
Fortunately, local law enforcement staff helped get everyone safely back to the boat ramp. No injuries were reported.
