Boat Strikes Rocks, Sinks Off Cuttyhunk Island

A 47-foot sport fishing boat ran aground on Sow & Pigs reef off Cuttyhunk Island on Sunday, August 2.

The boat was returning from a fishing trip when it struck rocks and began to sink. Aboard was a family of four, who were rescued by a Good Samaritan who was in the area.

All four passengers were transported to Woods Hole by the Massachusetts Environmental Police. No significant injuries were reported, and the vessel, which became partially submerged, has been salvaged.
