Yamaha Talon SS4 Propeller
September 20, 2017
Yamaha’s new Talon SS4 is a unique propeller that combines instant acceleration and high lifting capability. It is specifically sized to fit today’s lightweight, midrange outboards.
The Talon SS4 is derived from Yamaha’s Turbo FX4 propeller, and features the latest iteration of the company’s patented Shift Dampener System (SDS), which greatly reduces or eliminates shift clunk and propeller vibration that may be present at low speeds. SDS also provides cushioning during high-speed operation.
Four blades provide additional surface area over conventional 3-blade propellers, a design that provides great acceleration, as well as increased bow and stern lift. This design leads to less draft on plane and the ability to maintain plane at slower speeds. Additionally, the 4 blades reduce stern drop upon acceleration, which can help reduce damage to bottom vegetation (and the propeller).
Talon SS4 propellers are made of polished stainless steel and fit Yamaha’s line of 4-stroke midrange outboards from the T50 through F/VF115. They are available in 14”, 16”, 18”, 20”, 22”, and 23” pitches. No special hardware is required to install and operate the Talon SS4.
