12-Metre American Championships Recap

All 3 racing days at the 2012 12 Metre North American Championships  (September 21-23) started out chilly and overcast, but gave way to sunshine and wind enough to conduct 8 races off Newport, Rhode Island, where the America’s Cup took place for over 5 decades.

Taking overall victory in the event for the Pine Brothers Trophy was Dennis Williams and his Victory ’83 team. Their performance in Modern Division topped all others from the Grand Prix and Traditional Divisions; the team won all of its races over Ralph Isham’s/Alex Aursberg’s Courageous and Jack Curtin’s Intrepid, which took 2nd and 3rd in the Modern Division, respectively.
