20 Years of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary

This year marks 20 years since legislation was signed to create the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary at the mouth of Massachusetts Bay.

A recent article on Wicked Local Scituate examines the history of Stellwagen Bank, from its geological past and the work of Lt. Henry S. Stellwagen — who the bank is named after — to the marine research that has taken place there and what the future may hold for the sanctuary.
