2018 Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby Results

The 73rd Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby wrapped up Oct. 14, with the awards ceremony on Oct. 15. The number of Derby contestants this year totaled 3,541—a new record. A total of 13,594 pounds of fish were weighed in.

Stephen Pietruska made history with his boat-caught 39.20-pound striped bass, which marked the 5thtime he earned top honors for largest bass in the Boat division.

David Kadison, who led the Derby’s Bluefish Boat division with a 18.49-pound fish, won a new 2018 Subaru Forester.

Paul Hoffman, whose 13.08-pound bluefish led the Shore division, won a Cape Codder 19 skiff and outboard.

Other grand leaders in the Boat included Raymond Cabot with a 11.75-pound bonito, and Gary Look with a 15.75-pound false albacore.

Shore leaders included Ollie Becker with a 37.69-pound bass, Stephen Sawyer Jr. with a 6.76-pound bonito, and Ken Zaiatz with a 12.85-pound false albacore.
